28-year-old artist looking to gift Ruto's 'prophetic' painting to be completed in 2021

Desmund Mwendi, 28, is about to gift President William Ruto with what he says is a prophetic and celebratory painting.

Some doubted Root’s ability to cement the presidency, but Mwendi, better known by his artistic name Monty, said the president would do everything possible to secure the coveted presidency in Kenya. I believed that I could rise above my sexuality.

Among the leaders pictured in the painting are former Muranga Women’s Representative Sabina Chege, Senator Elgeyo Malakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio La Umoja’s vice-presidential candidate Martha・Includes Kahlua, former Prime Minister Laila Odinga, Kimiriri MP Didmus Barratha, and politicians. An art and design graduate at the University of Nairobi (UoN), he says he was unaware of the impact of the painting.

“The inspiration for this particular piece came from DP’s popularity at the time. It seemed imminent that he would win the election if there was an election on that day,” Mwendi explained. .

Based in Elgeyo Marakwet, Mwendi is a full-time artist and has revealed that she chose her career path because of her passion and talent in this field.

His career spanned five years, during which he painted a picture of a respected politician in the county. They include Uhuru, Laila, Mike Sonko and Ali Hassan Joho, former governors of Nairobi and Mombasa respectively.

He further added that his paintings are priced differently depending on size and detail. His art, at least he’s worth Ksh50K.

Finally, he called on the incoming government to consider ways to allow domestic artists to profit from their work.
